Overview
Gayani is a Senior Associate at the Firm, with a strong track record in admiralty law, corporate advisory, employment law and dispute resolution. With over eight years of experience and recognition as a ‘Rising Star’ in Labour & Employment by Legal 500 Asia Pacific, she brings practical insight and steady judgment to clients navigating regulatory hurdles, internal governance and fast-moving commercial issues.
Her legal journey started early! While still in law school, Gayani gained hands-on exposure at a Legal Process Outsourcing firm. She later completed her apprenticeship under an eminent President’s Counsel, grounding her in litigation before branching into advisory work at one of Sri Lanka’s top-tier law firms. There, she focused on shipping, employment and commercial law before taking her practice in-house. As legal counsel to a corporate giant in Sri Lanka’s logistics and infrastructure space, Gayani operated at the intersection of business strategy and regulatory complexity, advising on high stakes matters across integrated transport systems, marine, energy infrastructure and sector-specific compliance frameworks.
Gayani is also a published contributor on maritime and employment law, with her work being featured by the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration, Shipping Law Review, Chambers and Partners and the EdHat International Research Conference on Law & International Relations.
Outside the office, Gayani nurtures her passion for books, classical dance, yoga, and art. A movie enthusiast, she balances moments of quiet reflection with a curiosity for fresh and engaging experiences.
